Art of the Athlete Fun Fact:
This painting is an art history mystery! The work shows a young, unidentified female golfer. The laurels in the background mark her as a champion, but her Identity remains an enigma.
"The Champion is clearly a decorated golfer, with her trophy cabinet full and bursting. Yet although she is the victor, the young lady appears to be somewhat sad. I’m guessing the tournament was match play (one person vs. the other) as opposed to stroke play (an entire field competing vs. each other) and that her fellow competitor was a close friend. Winning is fun but beating a friend can be bittersweet." -Kelley Hester Head Coach, Clemson W. Golf
