Illuminating Hub Cities: The Depiction of Industry and Agriculture in the South

In her exhibition Illuminating Hub Cities: The Depiction of Industry and Agriculture in the South, Converse College senior and curatorial intern Maggie Vaughn explores the ways Southern painters captured the region’s agricultural heritage and industrial culture during the first half of the twentieth century. Featured artists include Sarah Blakeslee, Ida Crawley, Kelly Fitzpatrick, Crawford Gillis, William Gropper, John Lapsley, Margaret Law, Francis Speight, and Eugene Thomason.
