Pendulm

Pete Jennerjahn grew up and received most of his art education in the Midwest. At the encouragement of his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Jennerjahn, Pete spent the summer of 1948 at Black Mountain College. Betty attended the school four years prior, where she took Anni’s weaving classes and Josef’s art fundamentals class. She wanted to return to teach dance there.

Pete’s classes with Josef Albers were lifechanging; Jennerjahn soon became Albers’s assistant and then took over the print shop entirely when the Aberses moved to Connecticut. The print shop produced letterheads and catalogues for BMC, but Jennerjahn also taught design and color classes. He was also dedicated to playing music and supporting dance; he played three instruments and, with his wife, cofounded the Light Sound Movement Workshop. Following his time at BMC, Jennerjahn traveled to France and then settled in New York City, where he taught and continued to paint colorful abstractions.
