In this moonlit scene, Revolutionary American General Francis Marion—popularly known as the “Swamp Fox” for his novel guerilla tactics—encamps with his men like Robin Hood hiding in Sherwood. In this moment of respite, with Spanish moss framing the camp entrance like gossamer curtains, Marion and his bedraggled troops take time out to regroup, relax, and reaffirm camaraderie.
