The most organic design in the Connections portfolio is Study for nylon rug. The bold red-orange color serves as a warm and lively backdrop for the meandering lines that fill the page. Although Anni studied South American weaving techniques throughout her life, the winding lines here evoke the maze-like patterns she began implementing after visiting Chile and Peru in the early 1950s. Nevertheless, her lessons from the Bauhaus remained integral. One can envision the words of her Bauhaus instructor, Paul Klee, advising his students to “take a line for a walk.”
