Internships for Undergraduates
Open to senior art history majors with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher with an interest in employment or advanced study in the field, these semester-long placements offer selected students the opportunity to advance research and curatorial skills.
Tell Us About Your Project
Interns are required to reach out with a specific project proposal of how they would like to explore Southern art deeper through TJC’s research and curatorial libraries. TJC interns can serve as curatorial assistants for exhibitions but undergraduate curatorial proposals will not be considered for an internship.
Example projects include:
- Research dates and names for our Directory of Southern Women Artists
- Gaining more experience in conservation techniques before graduate school
- Researching and cataloging objects for upcoming TJC projects
- Working with TJC Staff to create community engagement opportunities
Applications are Open
Students may be recommended by faculty of the college, but it is the student’s responsibility to reach out and apply for the internship then handle communications. Interns at TJC work with TJC staff and will assist with staff projects, but also lead an independent self paced path during the semester. Each intern will be assessed on a case-by-case basis based on proposed project and TJC Staff availability.
TJC is always open to new ideas of intern projects and encourages students to research our website and mission to see what aligns with their passions and TJC mission before submitting a proposal.
